Delta hospital

Delta Hospital is a private hospital situated in Auderghem, 3km south-east of Brussels city centre. It opened in December 2017 following the closure of Edith Cavell Hospital and Parc Leopold Hospital. The state-of-the-art facilities combined with medical specialists from nearly all fields of medicine combine to offer excellent medical care. Like Edith Cavell Hospital before it, Delta Hospital is particularly renowned for its expertise in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Obstetrics (prenatal care, delivery and postnatal care)

Around 3300 deliveries take place each year at Delta making it one of the busiest maternity hospitals in Belgium. There are eleven large well-equipped delivery rooms, many equipped with a bath. The excellent team of midwives looks after you in a caring, calm and personalised environment. The emphasis of your care in labour is on respect, choice and privacy. We encourage mobilisation in early labour, are supportive in your choice of pain relief during labour and encourage skin-to-skin contact and early feeding following delivery. Delta Hospital has been awarded ‘Baby Friendly’ status according to an extensive evaluation by the ‘Initiative Hôpital Amis des bébés’ (see ‘Baby friendly status‘).

In order to ensure your safety, the delivery ward has the permanent presence of an obstetrician / gynaecologist, anaesthetist and paediatrician to cope with emergencies. An operating room is adjacent to the delivery rooms. The hospital has a level 3 neonatal unit that accepts babies at any gestational age including extremely premature and low-birthweight infants. Weekly perinatal multidisciplinary meetings are held to discuss complicated cases. A dedicated unit for the monitoring and hospitalisation of women with pregnancy-related complications is situated next to the labour suite.

Gynaecology

Minor surgery is performed in a dedicated day hospital within the hospital and more complex surgery is performed in our well-equipped main theatre department. Weekly multi-disciplinary meetings take place to discuss cases and ensure excellent care.
